The park was built for the Grand Prairie Air Hogs a team in the independant American Association. It opened in May 2007 and has a capacity of 5,445. It is named for QuikTrip, a Tulsa-based chain of convenience stores.

The stadium has an aeronautical theme given the areas heritage of military aviation and aerospace defense contractors. It sits in a large complex that includes Lone Star Park, the Nokia Theater, and GPX Skatepark.
